I bought a new BlackBerry 8310 mobile device in May 2nd in the city Digital Mall when Linda came and visited me during the holiday. She planned to buy a nice netbook, and came to look for me for suggestions. At the 2nd floor, I saw all kinds of mobile phones, and, I found some BlackBerry phones were sold there, this was for the first time that I knew they sell BlackBerry mobiles.

Barry – Another BlackBerry ™ synchronization for Linux

Last time, I introduced PocketMac for BlackBerry Linux Edition tool for you to sync your date in Linux system, but now, we have another option for managing their BlackBerry directly from Linux.

Barry is an Open Source application that will provide synchronization, backup, restore and program management for BlackBerry ™ devices. Barry is primarily developed on Linux, but is intended as a cross platform library and application set, targeting Linux, BSD, 32/64bit, and big/little endian systems.

The Barry project began in October 2005 and has steadily added features and polish to Blackberry usage on Linux ever since. We were the first to reverse engineer the battery charging handshake via USB.

Linux-to-BlackBerry sync tool goes beta

Information Appliance Associates, the creator of the original Mac-to-BlackBerry sync solution (also known as PocketMac for BlackBerry), announced on Tuesday a beta release of the first tool to sync Linux user data to the BlackBerry. The tool is dubbed “PocketMac for BlackBerry Linux Edition.”

This beta version is the result of more than 18 months of development and testing; it’s now open to the public for more input before a final version is created. The beta period starts Tuesday and is limited to a set number of users; if you’re interested, you’d better sign up now.
